Employee Benefits

All Greater Cleveland Food Bank full-time employees are eligible to elect benefits effective on their date of hire.

The specific benefits available to full-time employees are listed below. There may be some benefits available to part-time employees. The cost for benefits selected is deducted on a bi-weekly and pre-tax basis for most benefits.

Our Core Values


Medical & Vision Insurance

Full-time employees and their dependents receive major medical insurance through Medical Mutual Insurance Company. All employees are eligible on the first day of employment. The plan includes coverage for most in-network office services after a $20 co-pay, $40 for Specialists. This plan includes 80% coverage after an annual deductible for most in-network outpatient & inpatient services. This plan also includes coverage for services provided by non-network providers at a reduced benefit level. Prescription drug copays are $10 generic, $30 brand & $60 preferred brand. The Food Bank pays the majority of the medical insurance premium for employees and their dependent premiums. Employees can also sign up for SuperMed Vision at a separate premium per pay. This coverage is through Medical Mutual/VSP as well and employee and dependent coverage are available.


Dental Insurance

Full-time employees and their dependents receive standard dental coverage from Medical Mutual Insurance Company. All employees are eligible on the first day of employment. Coverage ranges for preventive, basic services, major services, and limited orthodontics coverage. The Food Bank pays the majority of the insurance premium for employees and dependents.


Life Insurance

Full-time employees receive life, accidental death, and dismemberment and can elect voluntary life coverage through OneAmerica Insurance Company. All employees are eligible on the first day of employment. The life insurance benefit is one time their salary up to a maximum of $125,000. This benefit is fully paid for by the Food Bank. In addition, employees also have the opportunity to elect dependent life insurance and voluntary life insurance at a minimal cost per pay.


Short-term & Long-term Disability

All full-time employees receive short-term and long-term disability coverage through OneAmerica Insurance Company. All employees are eligible on the first day of employment. Short-term disability covers eligible employees for 60% of weekly wages for 26 weeks up to $1,000 per week. Long-term disability covers eligible employees for 60% of monthly wages, capped at $3,000 monthly to age 65. This benefit is fully paid for by the Food Bank.


Paid Time Off

Combines sick, vacation, and personal time to allow for the following schedule of time off for each employee:

Year of Service / Total PTO Days
During Year One / 15 PTO days – 2 days immediate, then 13 days after 90 days
Year Two & Three / 18 PTO days
Year Four & Five / 21 PTO days
Year Six through Ten / 27 PTO days
Year Eleven & on / 30 PTO days


Flexible Spending Accounts

All employees are eligible to participate in flexible spending accounts (FSA) which enable employee’s reimbursement for some health (maximum of $2,700) and/or dependent care (maximum of $5,000) expenses from pre-tax income.


Retirement Program

All employees are eligible to participate in our 403 (b) tax-deferred retirement program which includes a generous match. Employees can reduce their current taxable income while investing in their future retirement. Tax liability is deferred until retirement benefits are received.
